U.S.–Ethiopia Business Council
Advancing trade and investment between the United States and Ethiopia.
We help U.S. and Ethiopian businesses assess opportunities, find commercial partners, and navigate market-entry and operating requirements.

Who we are
Commercial expertise, institutional relationships, and implementation capacity
The U.S.–Ethiopia Business Council (USETBC) is a private, nonpartisan nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. We work to strengthen trade, investment, and commercial partnerships between the United States and Ethiopia.
We support U.S. companies exploring or expanding their business in Ethiopia and Ethiopian businesses seeking U.S. partners, customers, investors, and technology.
Our focus is both the business opportunity and the conditions that make it possible. Alongside support for individual companies, we work with relevant institutions on clearer business processes, stronger standards, and the technical capacity needed to support commercial activity.
What we do
Focused on U.S.–Ethiopia business.
Our work brings together company-level support and improvements to the wider business environment.
Market Entry & Business Processes
Helping companies understand and navigate registration, licensing, customs, and operating requirements, while working with relevant institutions to identify and address procedural bottlenecks.
Trade & Investment Facilitation
Identifying commercial opportunities, introducing prospective partners, and supporting market-entry planning, due-diligence coordination, and discussions with potential sources of finance.
Standards & Technical Capacity
Coordinating technical assistance and training to strengthen business standards, governance, reporting, and sector-specific capabilities.
Market & Risk Analysis
Conducting independent analysis of market conditions and regulatory, security, and operational risks to support informed business decisions.
Our approach
Start with a business need. Work toward a commercial outcome.
We begin with a defined opportunity or obstacle. The work may involve clarifying a requirement, finding a prospective partner, coordinating the institutions involved in a transaction, or identifying the expertise needed to address a technical gap. Our role is to help establish a workable next step and support the follow-through.
